While Justin Trudeau doesn’t get it, Pierre Poilievre is focussing on solutions that will only help housing profiteers getting richer.
The Kootenays and the Okanagan saw strong population growth over the last few years leading to a shortage of housing supply and affordability problems. Some people are living in RVs, other families are making their homes in motels. A city like Nelson has a housing vacancy rate of 0% - meaning that there are simply no places available.
8 years ago, Justin Trudeau promised to make the housing crisis better, but the reality is that it is getting worse. The BC NDP government is taking concrete steps, but they need a federal partner that gets it.
And Pierre Poilievre is too busy trying to get his friends the super-rich investors and big developers even richer.
Jagmeet and the NDP believe that everyone should be able to find a place they can afford that’s safe and fits their family. That’s why we are fighting to get more affordable homes built, faster.
