Justin Trudeau is cutting help for seniors - demand that he stops

Justin Trudeau is going after the most vulnerable seniors instead of going after the super-rich that benefited from this pandemic.

Canadian seniors living on a fixed income were told to apply for the CERB and now, after encouraging them to apply for the help they needed, Trudeau’s Liberal government has cut them off from the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) they count on.

    Justin Trudeau is going after the most vulnerable seniors by allowing them to be cut off the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) help that they count on instead of going after the super-rich that benefited from this pandemic.  It shows a lot about his priorities. 

    Canadian seniors living on a fixed income were told to apply for the CERB and now, after encouraging them to apply for the help they needed, Trudeau’s Liberal government has cut them off from the GIS they count on.   

    By going after vulnerable seniors, the Liberal government has created a situation where seniors can no longer pay their rent, heat their homes and cover the cost of food or medication—leaving them desperate for help.    

    This isn't the way seniors deserve to be treated by the government. The Liberals created the problem for lower income seniors and now they have to fix it. 

    Canadians need leaders who back up their promises with concrete actions and get people the support they need.

    New Democrats will keep fighting for Canadian seniors to have the help they deserve from this government.

    Join Jagmeet and New Democrats in demanding that Justin Trudeau act immediately and reinstate the GIS for seniors that have been cut off from help they rely on.
