Tell the government it's time to cover contraceptives:
The ability to prevent or delay pregnancy gives women, trans men and gender non-conforming people more control over their bodies and how they live their lives. But 24% of Canadians don’t have access to prescription drug coverage, meaning they must pay out of pocket for medications like contraception. And the costs of family planning disproportionately fall to all people who are assigned female at birth.
Reproductive freedom is a basic human right. Birth control shouldn’t just be accessible for those who can afford it.
The NDP is fighting for all Canadian women, trans men and other gender non-conforming persons — and their right to make the reproductive choices that work for them. NDP MP Irene Mathyssen has introduced a motion in Parliament (M-65) calling on the federal government to work with the provinces to cover the full cost of prescribed contraceptives. The NDP has also long called for a universal pharmacare plan for all Canadians.
Tell the Liberal government it’s time to make contraceptives affordable for all Canadians.
