Throughout the month of February, we will celebrate the history and accomplishments of Canada’s Black community. Black History Month is an important occasion to recognize the many contributions of Black Canadians to our society and to thank them for their involvement.
However, while we salute the role the Black Community has played in Canada, it is important to note that there is a long road ahead of us to end the discrimination and racism they have faced. We must continue to strive, as a country and as individual citizens, to promote a fair Canada for all.
During the next 28 days, I urge all Canadians to participate in community activities and learn more the history of Black people in Canada.
On behalf of all New Democrats, I extend my very best to all Canadians during Black History Month.
