I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the families, colleagues and friends of Master Caporal Kristal Giesebrecht and Private Andrew Miller, two members of the Canadian Forces who died in Afghanistan on Saturday, when their armoured vehicle hit an improvised explosive device. They were both medical technicians based at CFB Petawawa.
Master Caporal Giesebrecht was born in Wallaceburg, Ontario and was known as a mentor for her fellow medical technicians in the force. She was serving her second tour in Afghanistan. She was 34 years old.
Private Miller, 21, was born in Sudbury and was commended for his devotion, generosity, and great military and clinical skills.
My thoughts and prayers are with Private Miller’s and Master Caporal Giesebrecht’s loved ones.
