Dear friends,
Today is a special day for Québec, and it is with great pleasure that I join in the celebrations.
This holiday is a great occasion for Quebecers to celebrate the Québec Nation and to proudly highlight their rich and diverse culture. Born in Québec myself, I am particularly proud to take part in the festivities once again, in the streets of Montréal.
The Francophonie in North America has its origins in Québec, of course, but La Belle Province’s influence extends well beyond its boundaries. The vitality of its artistic community is internationally recognized, and it contributes to the strength of the Francophonie across Canada.
I invite Canadians of all origins to unite in celebrating Québec, an important part of our history, and an element that makes Canada so unique.
On behalf of the New Democratic Party and all of its Members of Parliament, I wish all Quebecers and French Canadians a very happy St-Jean.
Let’s celebrate our heritage!
