Today, Michael Ignatieff was quoted in the Peterborough Examiner as saying: “If you want clean water, if you want clean air, if you want action on climate change there's only one party in government that can do it and that's the Liberal Party of Canada.”
So when it came time to oppose the Conservative government’s gutting of environmental assessments this spring, why did 30 Liberal MPs fail to show up and vote, and thereby ensure its passage?
And why were 7 Liberal Senators also AWOL when their turn came?
Is it because the lobbying firm of the Liberal Party National Campaign Co-Chair, Senator David Smith, lobbied on behalf of BP from 2005-2009?
Or because Ralph Goodale’s former Chief of Staff, Dan Seekings, is now a lobbyist for BP, and contributed $1,039.72 to the Liberal Party in December 2009?
Of course, supporting big oil may also explain why, even though Ignatieff made sure there wouldn’t be an election, he still wanders around the country in an election-style bus... ahem, busses.
