On Thursday Adam Goldenberg, speechwriter for Michael Ignatieff, liveblogged his leader in Ajax Ontario: “The Conservative government has walked away from the nuclear industry. We need to be a leader in the nuclear field again” and “Walking away from Canadian achievement—in nuclear—is a mistake.”
Let’s cast our mind back all the way to Monday shall we? Four days ago, seven Liberal Senators didn’t show up to vote on the budget bill. That would be the budget bill that opens up the sale of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited to the highest bidder.
That sell-out only got to the Senate because 30 Liberal MPs sat on their hands, didn’t show up or were confused during the vote in the House of Commons, a vote which would have stopped the Conservative government from walking away from this Canadian achievement.
The Conservatives have been pursuing a policy of selling off Canadian industry, and they’ve only made it this far because of Liberal cooperation.
And now, Michael Ignatieff is bussing away from the nuclear industry, as fast as Harper’s Diesel allows him too.
