Michael Ignatieff goes for a “meet and greet” at the Kingston restaurant “Chez Piggy”
or better known locally as “The Pig.”
Here are a few examples of restaurant favourites and special items added for the Liberals.
CAESAR SALAD with DOUBLE SMOKED BACON & SHAVED PARMESAN:
Bacon, double smoked, as in not once but twice. Once in the House, once in the Senate, the Liberals let Canadians down on the C-9 omnibus budget. First, Liberal MPs didn’t bother showing up to vote on all budget bills and next, seven Liberal Senators failed to appear for the final vote, easily permitting the adoption of Harper’s Conservative budget despite all the ruckus they made about it. Extra cheesy.
CHEZ PIGGY CLUB with CHICKEN, BACON & TOMATO
This classic sandwich combining chicken and pork is perfect for Liberals. Time and time again, Liberal MPs chickened out of standing up to Stephen Harper, like when Liberal MPs failed to impress Canadians at the Finance Committee when they “kept one MP away from all votes to ensure no sections (of the budget) were defeated.” (Globe and Mail, May 18, 2010)
CHIPOTLE MARINATED PORK CHOP
This wonderfully spicy creation will fill you up to the point you’ll feel you’ve had enough for the year. Exactly like Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff, who felt that participating in 2 out of 26 budget votes was more than enough for the year.
SPONSORSHIP RIBS
The ultimate in pork dishes and a Liberal classic, these ribs are slow-cooked for eight hours, one for every year that the Liberal government abused the political process. Make sure to ask for the $100 million advertising sauce that was spent on kick-back commissions and vote-buying schemes in Quebec.
RAYMOND LAVIGNE’S BACONATOR
So much pork we had to name a burger with bacon after him. This Liberal Senator is facing legal problems for using Senate resources including $23,000 for personal gain. Criminal charges were laid by the RCMP against him for fraud over $5,000, breach of trust and obstruction of justice. Although barred from legislative duties, Lavigne is still collecting his bacon with a $132,000 salary and using Parliament hill for personal luncheons.
Hope all this disagreeable behaviour doesn’t give participants too much indigestion.
