OTTAWA–New Democrat Leader Jack Layton heads to Copenhagen today to take part in United Nations Climate Change Conference.
Layton plans to meet with European, Asian and African delegations and officials to discuss what other countries are doing to meet their emission targets and measures they have undertaken to green their economies.
“There are some amazing and truly innovative ideas at work around the world that we should be embracing,” said Layton. “Canadians need to see that making change and investing in a green future will not bankrupt the country, as the Conservatives would have you believe.
Also while there, Layton will attend the Climate Leadership in Canada Celebration and introduce Nova Scotia Premier Darrell Dexter, who will be receiving an award.
