Hon Jack Layton’s statement on Canada’s gold medal win at the World Junior Hockey Championships

I would like to congratulate Canada’s world junior hockey team in their decisive victory over Sweden last night.

This fifth straight gold medal is a great achievement for these young men. I’m sure I speak for Canadians around the world when I say we are filled with pride.

I look forward to watching next year’s team compete for the sixth straight championship in Regina and Saskatoon next year.
