The weakest Conservative trio
There’s nothing like a strong ending to a session, and three Conservative Ministers seem intent on going out with a bang:
Julian Fantino:
- The Auditor General found that “Veterans Affairs Canada is not adequately facilitating timely access to mental health services”
- Announced $200 million over six years, only to later clarify that it was over 50 years
- Was so impressed with himself that he left the country
Leona Aglukkaq:
- Shouted “that’s not true” in the House of Commons when the NDP discussed people in her riding eating out of the town dump
- Reportedly asked for a letter of apology from the Deputy Mayor of Rankin Inlet because of the report on APTN showing people eating out of a dump
- Now is apparently threatening to sue the Deputy Mayor of Rankin Inlet over town dump incident
Gerry Ritz:
- Reportedly planning on selling off the Canadian Wheat Board for the low, low price of $0
- Decided to withhold all financial information about the Wheat Board because it would be “detrimental to commercial interests”
- Reduced the amount of wheat that rail companies are required to haul, even though there is still a crisis in getting grain to market
Canadians deserve better.
