Trudeau cuts will hurt front line services Canadians rely on

Justin Trudeau confirmed today that he plans to cut $6.5 billion from public services Canadians rely on.

“The Liberals plan to cut $3 billion per year as of budget 2019,” said NDP candidate Andrew Thomson (Eglinton—Lawrence). “That’s 5% of non-statutory spending. It’s a very deep cut that will hurt Canadians.”

In response to questions from journalists, Trudeau dismissed concerns about these deep service cuts, saying additional cuts are “reasonable”.

“After ten years of cuts and austerity from Stephen Harper we don’t need more cuts and austerity from Justin Trudeau,” said Thomson. “In this campaign, Tom Mulcair is the only leader who will not cut services Canadians rely on.”
