Trudeau calls in Senate Liberals to the Rescue

Justin Trudeau has faced mounting criticism after weeks of flip-flopping on the mission in Iraq.

“Mr. Trudeau was less than his dazzling persona. Rather than seizing the moment, the moment seized him. He led his party to an absolute no, and to cover so stark a response, sang hymns to generalized humanitarianism.” Rex Murphy, the National, October 9th 2014 “I was even more surprised to see that the Liberals, a so-called government in waiting, would not, as the NDP did, come up with a motion of their own to say, this is our position and this is what we would do in government. Instead, they voted for the NDP. And that led me to write that if you want to know what the Liberals think, go to the NDP website.” Chantal Hebert, At Issue panel, October 9th 2014 “This was a moment for grown-ups. Make no mistake, the Liberals took a hit this week. And so did their leader.” L. Ian MacDonald, iPolitics, October 9th, 2014

The Globe and Mail added: “Quiet, Justin. The adults are talking”, while Liberals like Bob Rae and Lloyd Axworthy bitterly criticized the Liberal leader’s handling of the conflict.

So what did Mr. Trudeau do?

He called out the big guns to his rescue – Liberal Senators!

This afternoon, Senator Celine Hervieux-Payette sent out a press release congratulating Justin Trudeau on his “difficult and courageous decision”.

Is this really what they mean by sober second thought?

Canadians deserve better.
