Tom Mulcair statement on Remembrance Day

NDP Leader Tom Mulcair made the following statement on Remembrance Day:

“Today Catherine and I join all Canadians in saluting those who have served our country. We honour the fallen. We pay our respects to the families who were left behind. We pray for the safety of those currently serving.

On this day New Democrats reaffirm our commitment to our veterans and their families, not just in words but in action. We will work across party lines to ensure that the shuttered Veterans’ Offices are reopened and the pensions system is urgently fixed so it works for all veterans. We must replace the broken Veterans Review and Appeal Board and take urgent action to improve support for PTSD and mental health of veterans.

As we speak the names of the fallen and stand up for the living, we reaffirm our commitment to the values for which they fought.
