Tom Mulcair ready to take on climate crisis

Canada needs a Prime Minister who is ready to work both at home and abroad on the growing climate change crisis, and Tom Mulcair is the only leader with a proven track record of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

“The NDP has a clear plan to reduce greenhouse gas. We'll be basing it on the successful cap and trade model we used to reduce SO2 emissions that caused acid rain,” said Mulcair during tonight’s leaders’ debate. “Every year I was the Minister of the Environment, I was able to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Quebec. That is my record.”

As Prime Minister, Tom Mulcair will work with the international community to deal with climate change – starting with the climate conference in Paris. The NDP’s plan will make polluters pay and ensure Canada is prepared to compete in the clean energy economy. Tom Mulcair will work with the provinces to put a price on carbon and reduce emissions so that Canada does its part to prevent catastrophic global temperature increases.
