Tom Mulcair outshines opponents on jobs plan

Tonight, NDP Leader Tom Mulcair contrasted his balanced plan for strong economic growth job creation with Stephen Harper’s failed policies and Justin Trudeau’s short term and short sighted approach.

“There are now 300,000 more Canadians without a job than when the recession hit in 2008. We have a plan to kick-start the economy, to grow manufacturing jobs, work on innovation,” said Mr. Mulcair, during tonight’s leaders’ debate on the economy. “We also want to help people get ahead. That's why one of our key planks is to make sure we bring in quality, affordable childcare across Canada at no more than $15 a day. That will be good for the economy, and for women because it's almost always women who make tough the sacrifice to their careers.”

The NDP has committed to valuing hard work by raising the federal minimum wage, and creating more jobs by targeted support for small business, infrastructure, manufacturing and innovation. Combined with investing in skills training, Tom Mulcair’s plan will grow a stronger middle class – and a stronger middle-class means a stronger Canada.
