Statement by Tom Mulcair on the Death of Jean Lapierre

"Catherine and I are in shock.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the tragic death of Jean Lapierre and several members of his family.

Always close to his community, Jean Lapierre was a formidable parliamentarian and minister.

He will be deeply missed by all Canadian politicians, political parties, Quebecers and Canadians.

We will miss this gifted communicator who, more often than not, determined the political issue of the day.

We extend our sincere condolences to family members during this time of grief.
