Statement by Pat Martin on Potash mine accident in Saskatchewan
On behalf of all New Democrat MPs, I would like to offer my support to the families and loved ones of workers trapped underground after a fire at a potash mine in Rocanville, Saskatchewan, who are undoubtedly experiencing a difficult and distressing time.
I am happy to know that according to the authorities, the 20 workers still in the mine are safe and will soon be able to escape to the surface.
I would also like to congratulate the emergency rescue teams which reacted quickly to put out the fire and continue to do a remarkable job.
