Statement by the Official Opposition on World Religion Day

Official Opposition Human Rights critic Wayne Marston (Hamilton East – Stoney Creek) made the following statement on World Religion Day:

Across the planet, people are celebrating World Religion Day today.

Recognizing that all systems of faith have similar foundations, this celebration brings together believers from all religions to foster greater understanding.

New Democrats are committed to fighting religious intolerance and proudly promoting freedom of religion. We believe this is a fundamental human right.

In celebrating the similarities between different systems of faith and attempting to better understand religions, we can help build a more just, respectful and harmonious world.
