Statement by Official Opposition Leader Tom Mulcair on the shooting in Moncton, New Brunswick

I am shocked and profoundly saddened to learn about the shooting in Moncton last night.

My thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the RCMP officers who lost their lives and those injured in this horrific incident. It is a tragic reminder of the dangers police face as they perform an important public service protecting our communities.

I would like to encourage the people of Moncton to stay safe and listen carefully to instructions from law enforcement and local officials until the situation is resolved.
