Statement from the Official Opposition Leader on the National Day of Honour

The Leader of the Official Opposition, Tom Mulcair (Outremont) made the following statement on the National Day of Honour

“Today we commemorate all those who served bravely in Afghanistan. On behalf of all New Democrats, I honour the courage and determination of those who fell in combat to make Afghanistan a better country. My thoughts are with the families and loved ones of all those who paid the ultimate price, as well as those who faced and still struggle with the psychological aftermath of this war.

The men and women from all over Canada who served in the Armed Forces did incredible work in Afghanistan, from which we may all draw pride. Though their mission recently ended, we must continue working, both diplomatically and on the ground, to realize the mission that we commemorate.”
