Statement by the Official Opposition on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

Official Opposition Human Rights critic Wayne Marston (Hamilton East – Stoney Creek) made the following statement on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination:

“In a country as diversified as ours and considered a global model of social integration, it is important to reiterate our commitment to eliminate the conditions that feed prejudice.

A significant wage gap and higher rates of unemployment and poverty are examples of the realities that certain ethnic communities face. We must put an end to the unfair treatment that puts certain groups in a vulnerable position.

Diversity and multiculturalism are an asset. We must continue to fight against all forms of racial discrimination. New Democrats are determined to create a fairer, more inclusive country.”
