New Democrats across Canada are proud to celebrate Asian Heritage Month.

Each May, Canadians recognize the valuable contributions of Canadians of Asian descent to our country. Canadians of Asian origin have made significant contributions to Canada’s political, economic and cultural fabric. Asian Heritage month gives us the perfect opportunity to celebrate these contributions.

Over the past two centuries, immigrants from the vast lands of Asia have chosen Canada as our home. The rich cultural heritage, languages and traditions that originated across Asia have enriched our society in Canada.

Throughout this month, the rich culture and history of Asian Canadian communities will be highlighted in numerous events across our country. I encourage all Canadians to participate in these festivities and celebrate Asian Canadians’ contributions to making Canada the best country in the world.
