Statement by the Official Opposition Environment critic Megan Leslie on Canada’s Parks Day

NDP Environment critic Megan Leslie made the following statement on Canada’s Parks Day:

“Today, we celebrate our country’s rich natural heritage and breathtaking landscapes.

From coast to coast to coast, our national parks are a source of pride for Canadians and enjoyment for visitors from both here and abroad.

New Democrats are committed to protecting our country’s parks and historic sites as well as their habitats, species and ecosystems. The Conservatives’ budget cuts in the last few years threaten Canadian heritage and the integrity of our parks.

The government has a duty to preserve this natural and unique heritage and ensure the ecological integrity of parks for future generations.

On this Canada’s Parks Day, the NDP invites you to visit one of our many parks and participate in activities that highlight their importance.”
