Statement from the NDP on Nanaimo shooting

NDP MP Jean Crowder (Nanaimo – Cowichan), made the following statement regarding the shooting at the Western Forest Products sawmill:

"On behalf of Canada’s New Democrats I would like to express heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives and were injured in today’s shooting. Like all Canadians I was saddened to hear about the incident at the Western Forest Products sawmill and share your distress. "

"Nanaimo and the surrounding communities are very close-knit and I am comforted by the knowledge that in the midst of this tragedy we will find strength and solace in each other. "

"I would also like to acknowledge the difficult work of first responders in these trying circumstances."
