Statement by NDP Foreign Affairs critic Paul Dewar on India’s Independence Day

On behalf of my party, caucus and staff, I extend best wishes to the people of India as they celebrate Independence Day.

Over the past 65 years, India has come a long way. It’s the largest democracy in the world with one of the fastest growing economies. Like Canada, it is a global example of multiculturalism, with so many diverse cultures, customs, languages, religions and traditions.

Again, on behalf of all New Democrats, I extend my very best as you mark 65 years of independence.
