Statement by Matthew Dubé on the 100th anniversary of the Grey Cup

New Democrats are pleased to join all Canadians in celebration of the 100thGrey Cup. This occasion marks a full century of excellence in the Canadian Football League (CFL).

This anniversary represents not just the many triumphs and feats of athleticism shown by generations of football greats but also the dedication of the countless fans who celebrate victories with gusto and stand by their teams through losses.

For the past 10 weeks a train carrying the Grey Cup and other football-related mementos has been criss-crossing Canada allowing football fans from coast to coast to coast to share in the commemoration of this unforgettable anniversary.

This moment of great national pride highlights Grey Cup history. This is a celebration of yesterday’s CFL legends, today’s talented athletes and the CFL’s bright future.
