Statement by the leader of the Official Opposition on Yom Kippur

Official Opposition Leader Tom Mulcair made the following statement to mark Yom Kippur:

“Tonight, members of the Jewish faith in Canada and around the world will gather to observe Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.

My wife Catherine and I join all New Democrats in wishing you and yours peace, happiness and prosperity for the new year.

This holiest of Jewish holidays is a time for repentance and forgiveness. As a new year dawns, the faithful reflect on the past and look with hope towards the future.

As Jewish families observe this solemn holiday, let us all commit to working together to build a better future.
