Statement by the Leader of the Official Opposition on Chinese New Year

Official Opposition Leader Tom Mulcair (Outremont) made the following statement on Chinese New Year:

“I would like to extend my best wishes to all Chinese Canadians celebrating the Chinese New Year—the most important traditional Chinese holiday.

The Chinese community was one of the first to set down roots in Canada.

We are proud to be home to strong and dynamic Chinese communities. I would like to acknowledge their important role in shaping the growth and development of this country over the last two centuries.

All New Democrats join me in wishing Chinese Canadians a joyful celebration and best wishes for the Year of the Horse.”
