Statement by NDP Citizenship and Immigration critic on Multiculturalism Day

Today is an opportunity for Canadians to celebrate the diversity of races, cultures, languages and religions that have come together to create the great country we live in. On behalf of all New Democrats, I want to express our pride in Canada’s tolerance and the spirit of inclusiveness that enriches our communities.

Today is a reminder for all of us to recognize the profound contribution of our country’s many cultural communities in building Canada into the country it is today.

It’s also a time to pause and reflect on our vision for society. Commit ourselves, individually and collectively, to work together so that all Canadian citizens have an equal opportunity to well-being and success.

New Democrats join all Canadians today in recognizing our differences, celebrating our similarities and rejoicing in belonging to a country that’s a model to the world.
