Reality check: Dean Del Mastro debunked – polling stations not changed

In response to questions from the NDP about illegal phone calls into Edmonton East, in which voters were told to go to the wrong polling stations by people claiming to be from Elections Canada, Dean Del Mastro said:

“Like any other party, we called our supporters to ensure that they were aware of these changes. That is the evidence. That is what we know for sure.” – Dean del Mastro, House of Commons, February 28, 2012

An odd answer given that, according to CBC, Elections Canada said that no polling locations were changed in Edmonton East during the last election.

In fact, of the 44 ridings that have been identified as having alleged illegal calls, only 10 had polling locations changed.

To make matters worse, Del Mastro just gave the same misleading answer on a TV panel. Deliberately misleading Canadians is a really bad defence of election fraud.

And yes Dean, Edmonton East does exist.
