Official Opposition Leader’s statement on Asian Heritage Month

Official Opposition leader Tom Mulcair (Outremont) made the following statement on Asian Heritage Month:

“For twelve years now, Canada has been celebrating Asian Heritage Month in the month of May.

This month gives Canadians an opportunity to remember the important contributions of Asian communities to our country’s culture and prosperity.

As we celebrate the long and rich history of Asian-Canadians, we are reminded that many Asian-Canadians have loved ones aboard and have been waiting years to be reunited here in Canada.

You can count on New Democrats to make family reunification a priority in Canada’s immigration system.
