NDP welcomes First Nation-led “Who Is She?” campaign

New Democrats welcomed the launch of the "Who Is She?" campaign by Chiefs of Ontario. The campaign will help raise funds and awareness for the implementation of an Ontario First Nations-led inquiry process into missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, that will feed into a national inquiry.

“The issue of murdered and missing women touches Canadians of all walks of life. People are tired of the indifference shown by Stephen Harper to this terrible injustice. New Democrats support the move by the Chiefs of Ontario,” said Charlie Angus, NDP candidate for Timmins—James Bay. "We will launch a national inquiry within 100 days of forming government. People want leadership on this file. Stephen Harper has once again shown his hard heart and lack of leadership.”

The NDP has also committed to working with women’s groups and Indigenous communities and organizations to create a comprehensive and coordinated national action plan to end violence against women. The plan will focus on women who are most vulnerable to violence, including Indigenous women.

Working in partnership with the Chiefs of Ontario and other Indigenous communities across Canada, the NDP is committed to reverse Conservative indifference and neglect.
