NDP unveils small business strategy

Today, New Democrats launched the next step of its small business outreach campaign, calling on Conservatives not to eliminate a tax credit that helped small businesses hire more people.

“Small businesses create the good, family-supporting jobs Canadians are looking for,” said NDP small business critic Glenn Thibeault (Sudbury). “That’s why the NDP is focused on working with small business to help them grow and thrive.”

"The Hiring Credit for Small Business was a very successful measure for many small firms, helping them create and secure jobs,” said Dan Kelly, President of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business. “CFIB hopes an EI Hiring or Training Credit for small firms will be reintroduced as part of the 2015 budget.”

“CFIB is pleased to work closely with NDP MPs on many files important to small business, including credit card merchant fees and our shared call for a reduction in the small business corporate tax,” added Kelly.

“Over the summer, our team will consult with small businesses across the country with regards to our business-friendly key proposals,” concluded NDP small business deputy critic, Annick Papillon (Québec).
