The NDP still fighting to save Canada Post

In order to bring the drastic restructuring at Canada Post back to the spotlight, the NDP held a press conference this morning to condemn the Conservatives’ new price hikes for stamps, which will bring the cost to a record $1 and affect consumers across the country.

“By canceling home delivery, shortening post office hours, and radically increasing prices, the Conservatives are putting Canada Post in peril. We must protect this public service,” said NDP Canada Post critic Alexandre Boulerice (Rosemont – La Petite-Patrie).

Thousands of Canadians are opposed to the changes and have expressed their dissatisfaction daily. The NDP will continue its efforts to compel the Conservatives to hear their concerns and maintain our postal services.

Boulerice will begin touring Quebec in the coming days, in order to gather comments from citizens on the issue, since the government held no real consultations on the matter. The NDP will also continue be a voice for seniors and mobility-impaired persons, who will be most affected by the cuts.
