NDP statement on World Humanitarian Day

Jagmeet Singh, Leader of Canada’s NDP, issued the following statement:

"World Humanitarian Day is held each year to recognize the aid workers who risk their own safety to help people around the world – and to show our support for the millions of people who are driven from their homes because of armed conflict, and who need food, water and a safe place to sleep.

As these humanitarian workers deliver aid and treat the wounded and the sick, they too are often targeted, or violently prevented from assisting the people who desperately need help.

On this World Humanitarian Day, let’s honour all the brave aid workers who risk their lives every day and commit to supporting them in whatever way we can. And let’s continue to speak out about humanitarian crises around the world and push for help for those affected.”
