NDP statement on Veterans’ week

NDP Leader Tom Mulcair made the following statement on Veterans’ week:

“Every day Canadian men and women risk their lives to protect those in danger and to defend peace, justice, equality and freedom around the world. It is thanks to them, and those who sacrificed before them, that today we may live in peace and freedom. Veterans’ Week is an opportunity to pay tribute to our veterans and acknowledge their significant contributions. They deserve our gratitude, respect and support.

New Democrats would also like to reiterate our commitment to providing veterans and their families with all the support and services they need.

On behalf of the NDP, I would like to thank all current and retired members of the Canadian military, the RCMP, veterans and their families for the enormous sacrifices they have made throughout Canada’s history. We wish them all our very best and thank them for their service.
