NDP Statement on Remembrance Day

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh made the following statement:

"Today, New Democrats honour the bravery and loyalty of the men and women who have fought for the freedoms we cherish as Canadians. We honour all those who served in the wars and missions overseas, as well as here at home.

Today is a day to remember. To remember the sacrifices of those who put their lives on the line for our country and did not return home. And a day to remember those who did return, but were forever changed.

As a country, we must honour the sacrifices of those fallen and those who have served, by recognizing the terrible cost of war.

It is essential that today’s reflections translate into tomorrow’s concrete actions. The transition from military to civilian life can be difficult and can come with great challenges. The road to healing is not a seamless one. We must listen to our veterans and their families to ensure that they receive the support, care, and recognition they need and deserve. We must honour our sacred obligation to these brave men and women.

We will always remember their selfless courage and the high price of war, today and every day.

Lest we forget."
