NDP statement on Quebec's National Holiday and Saint-Jean Baptiste

NDP Quebec Lieutenant, Alexandre Boulerice (Rosemont-La Petite Patrie), made the following statement:

"Quebecers everywhere today are united in celebration of their National Holiday.

I would like to take this opportunity to join them in honouring the Québécois culture and the French language.

It's important to highlight Quebec's unique contributions to Canada, North America, and the world. The Québécois nation is prosperous, strong, diverse, and based on its core values of equality and respect.

Some 500 years after the arrival of the first Europeans in North America, the vitality of the French language both in Canada and on the continent, give us much to be proud of.

I wish a wonderful National Holiday to all Quebecers and a great Saint-Jean-Baptiste to the many Francophone communities across the country, and all those who are celebrating today."
