NDP statement on the occasion of Asian Heritage Month

Official Opposition Leader Tom Mulcair made the following statement on the occasion of Asian Heritage Month:

“For the past 13 years, we have been celebrating Asian Heritage Month in May. It is an opportunity to thank Canadians of Asian descent who have helped our country grow in areas including culture, the economy and in building a stronger society.

“Canada’s Asian community helps enrich our country so that we can achieve a future filled with vitality, hope and prosperity, as well as promote a more harmonious and united society.

“I invite Canadians from every background to take part in the many festivities, and to learn about the Asian-Canadian culture and history.

“On behalf of all New Democrats, I wish you a joyous celebration.”
