NDP Statement on National Acadian Day

Jagmeet Singh, Leader of Canada’s NDP, issued the following statement:

“Acadians first settled in Canada’s East Coast over 400 years ago, and have been a vital part of building eastern Canada, maintaining their language and culture along the way.

On National Acadian Day, Acadians take to the streets for the annual Tintamarre – making noise to let us know they’re still here, and still as strong as ever.

Today, let’s celebrate the unique vitality and solidarity of the Acadian people and recognize their important contributions to Canada.

To all Acadians, near and far, Joyeuse Fête nationale de L’Acadie!”
