NDP statement on la Fête nationale du Québec and Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day

Jagmeet Singh, Leader of Canada’s NDP, issued the following statement:

“For so many, St-Jean-Baptiste marks the beginning of summer, the end of school terms, and the time to start enjoying the outdoors with friends and family. But more importantly, it’s also a moment of great pride.

On St-Jean-Baptiste, New Democrats join with Quebeckers to celebrate the rich Quebec culture, and share in the beautiful language that makes Quebec so remarkable.

We also join Francophones across the country to celebrate our language, heritage and traditions.

We honour the contribution this prosperous and strong nation has made to Canada, and we promise to ensure that this heritage continues to thrive by promoting our shared values of equality and respect.

On behalf of all New Democrats, I want to offer my best wishes to Quebeckers, Francophones and all those celebrating la Fête nationale du Québec and Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day!”
