NDP statement on Korean Independence Day
Jagmeet Singh, Leader of Canada’s NDP, issued the following statement:
“Today, Korean communities in Canada and around the world are celebrating Gwangbokjeol or ‘Restoration of Light Day’, to mark the 73rd anniversary of Korean independence.
This day is celebrated in both North and South Korea and by their compatriots in Canada who are valued as important contributors to Canadian society, as neighbours, colleagues and friends.
Today, let’s celebrate the contributions of Korean-Canadians to our society, culture, and communities, and continue working with Korean-Canadians to build a more inclusive and fairer Canada. On behalf of all New Democrats, I wish everyone who is celebrating a happy Gwangbokjeol!”
