NDP statement on International day of la Francophonie
NDP critic for International Development and La Francophonie Robert Aubin (Trois-Rivières) made the following statement:
“Today we are proudly celebrating Francophonie in Canada and around the world.
International Francophonie Day is an opportunity to celebrate the diversity and cultural richness of the French-speaking community in Quebec, Canada and around the world.
Francophonie is also a space of solidarity between people who build bridges through economic and cultural exchanges. Internationally, it plays a fundamental role in promoting democracy, peace and human rights.
Under the theme ‘Power of Words’, Francophonie Day expresses a will to live in a peaceful world where our differences bring us together.
All people who choose to live in French communities contribute to maintaining a vibrant French culture around the world.
Let’s celebrate our francophone culture and heritage – we’re proud to be at the heart of Francophonie!”
