NDP statement on the death of author Farley Mowat

NDP Heritage critic Pierre Nantel (Longueuil—Pierre-Boucher) made the following statement upon learning of Farley Mowat’s passing today:

“The NDP Caucus is saddened by the news of Farley Mowat’s passing. He was one of Canada’s most prolific and iconic writers.

Mowat’s work has been translated into 52 languages and sold 17 million copies around the world. His novels captured the Canadian landscape like no other author.

Mowat was made Officer of the Order of Canada 1981, and will also be remembered by Canadians for his passion and commitment to environmental protection.

Today, we celebrate the life of one of Canada’s literary giants.”
