NDP statement on the Code of Conduct on Sexual Harassment

NDP MP Jean Crowder (Nanaimo--Cowichan) made the following statement on the report on a “Code of Conduct: Sexual Harassment” from the Procedure and House Affairs subcommittee:

“This code is an important first step forward in making sure that Parliament is a sexual harassment-free workplace for everyone. Canada will be the first Parliament to have such a code in place.”

“The sexual harassment code of conduct reflects the priorities that New Democrats outlined from the start: a fair process that provides confidentiality, protection and support to those making a complaint, and an independent non-partisan third party responsible for handling complaints.”

“All parliamentarians share responsibility for ensuring that our workplace is safe and respectful. New Democrats will continue to make the issue of sexual harassment in Canadian workplaces a priority.”
