NDP statement on Canada's Agriculture Day

NDP Agriculture and Agri-Food critic, Ruth Ellen Brosseau, made the following statement:

“Today, on February 16, I am proud to celebrate the first Canada's Agriculture Day. Let’s highlight the remarkable work by these men and women who, on a daily basis, provide us with fresh, local and good quality products, from farm to table.

On this day, it is important to celebrate and emphasize the links between Canadians, our food, and every person who works tirelessly in this field. I also invite Canadians everywhere to promote and celebrate agriculture on this special day.

As critic for Agriculture and Agri-Food, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all these hardworking people in my riding of Berthier – Maskinongé and from coast to coast who devote their lives to ensure we can have food on our plates. As parliamentarians, we will keep on working to protect our agricultural sector by giving them the best possible tools to support them in their work, day after day."
