NDP seeks emergency debate on Nigerian kidnappings
Official Opposition Foreign Affairs critic Paul Dewar (Ottawa Centre) has requested that the Speaker of the House of Commons grant an emergency debate on Canada’s response to the abduction of hundreds of girls in Nigeria by terrorist group Boko Haram.
“This is the very definition of an emergency. Hundreds of young innocent lives are at stake, along with the political and social direction of a country and a region. Parliamentarians need an opportunity to discuss an appropriate Canadian response to this crisis,” Dewar wrote in the letter.
