NDP RECRUITS FORMER HEAD OF OXFAM FOR TOP JOB

OTTAWA –The New Democratic Party has selected former Oxfam Canada Executive Director, Robert Fox, as its new National Director. Fox will begin his work today at the Party’s national headquarters in Ottawa.

“I’m excited to be coming on board during an important period of renewal,” said Fox. “There’s a great deal of work ahead as we engage our members and connect with Canadians across the country about our shared values and the kind of country we want to build together.”

Fox has most recently served ten years as Executive Director of OXFAM Canada. He has also worked with indigenous organizations on land rights and recognition, was the Director of Communications for the Canadian Union of Public Employees, and served as Chief of Staff to former Ottawa Mayor Marion Dewar.

He is a life-long human rights and anti-poverty advocate, working with progressive social movements, women’s groups, unions, LGBTQ organizations, youth, and community groups.

“We’re so honored to have Robert take on this important work,” said NDP President Marit Stiles. “He has the passion, instincts, and experience that I believe will help our Party engage our base of energized supporters, carry out a successful leadership race, and build the excellent team we need in order to prepare for the next federal election.”
